A customised banquette seat is a great way to make a cafe or restaurant dining room a little special, comfortable and add character to the design. Below are some guidelines for designing a banquette and planing a table floor plan.

Length
The Banquette seating a can be any length!
Back Seat Height (Overall Height)
800mm - 900mm perfect where you can rest your arms on the back of the seat. Shoulder and heads are above the seat back which is very comfortable. The shoulders and heads can move freely.
1000mm - the seat back may finish should height.
1200mm - the seat back may finish half head height.
1400mm - seat back height will be above heads. This may not be as comfortable for the upper back (shoulders).
1600mm - Thats high! Will be a statement.
Higher - consider fabric wall panelling design.
Table Over-Hang
50 - 100mm - the table top will over-hang over the seat by 50-100mm
Seat Space Per Patron
500mm -600mm
Seat Cushion Depth
450mm - standard depth for the seat depth. Good for average heights.
500mm - this is a good depth for tall patrons, for those who are 6 foot +
Recline
It is important to consider the seat back reclines. This will be more comfortable for patrons as it will support lower backs. If you eatery is designed for a fast table turnover, a straight back will be ok as patrons won’t be staying too long and they can’t get too comfortable and stay for hours. The greater the recline will determine the overall depth of the banquette.
Back Seat Width
50mm - 70mm - this depends on the recline and overall depth.
Overall Depth
The greater overall depth, the more reclined the back rest will be.
